From the recording Electric Blue Dandelion - Nashville Sessions
Opens with a haunting atmosphere of ethereal vocal over resonator guitar and signature bass hook and hand percussion, similar to T Bone Burnett. Strings then enter accompanied by deep vocal drone, almost Tibetan or Indian in nature. Themes are repeated and developed before moving into an uptempo conclusion notable for rich hand percussion and a haunting gypsy violin lead. Exquisite vocals with a signature hook “yodel” on “Aloha” that is captivating.
Lyrics
Aloha - (Nashville Sessions)
Words and Music by Laurie Raveis
Green charred carpet room 23
Search of existence, my homily
Hot copper wire sustains
Devil’s triangle is a losing game
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
Belly swollen, baby large
Tired of Father strike so hard
Mamma left running years ago
Pipes and foil heat aglow
Soothes me
Locked in room 23
Ditched my baby, my family
Orange sign posts condemned
Truth, I’m holding my only friend
Rock me
Rock me
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
Junkies messing up the stratosphere
Refrigerant released in the atmosphere
Rusty taproot penetrates
Snake eats its tail and waits
New Psyche
Or same cycle
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
Aloha, black light
Aloha, souls rise tonight
